Fact Friday #5- History I

Early History-

In 313,000 B.C.- 10,000 B.C., Chile was settled by nomadic hunters. The Atacama, Diaguita, and other small native tribes lived in northern Chile herding, farming, and hunting on the outskirts of the Atacama. However, in the late 1400's they were conquered by the Incas. The Araucanians who lived in the Central Valley were fierce warriors who defeated the Incas in their attempt to push South. They also later discouraged the Spanish from conquering Chile, temporarily.
